Two guns uncovered in the grass near Cheetham Hill are to be forensically examined to see if they have been linked to previous incidents involving firearms.

Officers found the two weapons on an area of open land just off Elvate Crescent on Tuesday evening (October 4). At around 6pm, Greater Manchester Police's North Manchester team were supported by the Tactical Aid Unit and Dog Unit to conduct an open search of the area, where they made the discovery.

Both weapons were forensically recovered and will now be assessed to see if they can be linked to crime. Sharing pictures of the two hand guns, the force urged anyone with information or any concerns to come forward, adding they would 'take action' on any 'viable leads.'
