Tributes paid to Stirling art gallery's popular ‘cat-in-charge’ Oswald

Touching tributes have been paid to a popular moggie who served as ‘cat-in-charge’ at Stirling’s Smith Art Gallery and Museum.Oswald Clingan-Smith was a 17-year-old cat who came to The Smith as a kitten and was well known by visitors and tourists from around the world.He specialised in ‘meet and greet’, guided tours and security at the venue and when the Public Catalogue Foundation came to record all of the Smith paintings for the national record in 2011 he was declared to be the Public Cat.

When in 2016, the PCF changed its name to Art UK, he was the Public Cat chosen to introduce the new name and website to the public.Thousands of visitors to The Smith over the years have snapped selfies with Oswald.The Smith broke the news of his death
