TikTok sea shanty star Nathan Evans releases new song ‘Wellerman’

so-called #ShantyTok. Going viral by crooning traditional sea shanties — “Drunken Sailor” among the most well known — landed former mail carrier Nathan Evans a contract with record label Polydor, the Scottish Sun reported.

The 26-year-old released his debut single, “Wellerman (220Kid x Billen Ted Remix),” a reinvigorated EDM take on the old ditty, on Friday.

Evans, who lives east of Glasgow in North Lanarkshire with his wife, Holly, was also plucked to join the BBC’s coverage of Manchester United vs.
