Three Greater Manchester prisons are now dealing with Covid-19 outbreaks

It follows confirmation of cases at Forest Bank in Salford and Strangeways in Manchester.A Prison Service spokesman said: "Our priority is to limit the spread of the virus and protect the lives of those who live and work in our prisons."We have taken precautionary measures at Hindley, in line with public health guidance, and will continue to closely monitor the situation."The Ministry of Justice does not reveal the numbers of cases at each prison, but the M.E.N.

understands there are several dozen cases at Hindley, in Wigan.It is not clear how many of those affected are staff or how many are prisoners.Five wings at Forest Bank in Agecroft are currently in lockdown due to an outbreak.
