It was a surprising start to ITV This Morning today (September 26) as presenter Alison Hammond had her script torn up and discovered all the surprises would actually be directed towards her instead.

Hosts Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield opened the show by heading live to Alison, 47, in Birmingham but, as she began to explain she was there to surprise an "On Your Doorstep" contestant named "Alison", the tables were unexpectedly turned.

As she began to excitedly tell viewers that the woman she was was surprising had the same name as her, producers cut her microphone and ear piece and Holly, 41, and Phil, 60, announced to the camera: "We have just cut the feed to Alison's ear piece, she can't hear us." Holly added: "She thinks there's a technical issue" as Philip continued: "We have made everything up because the person we're surprising today is actually Alison herself." He continued: "She's been on This Morning for an incredible and wonderful 20 years." And Holly concluded: "We have set up a whole morning of surprises and Josie (Gibson) and Kate Lawler are in the house ready and waiting to turn the tables on her." They then cut back to Alison who was running down the road to decoy "Alison's" house but when she knocked on the door, her colleagues jumped out instead and yelled "Surprise!" as a shocked Alison said: "What are you doing?" before shrieking: "Oh my God!

Oh my God!" Josie, 37, shouted: "Today the surprise is on you! Happy 20th anniversary on This Morning. Congratulations!" Kate, 42, added: "Today is full of surprises and it doesn't stop here.
