The Queen's cousin jailed for 10 months after sex attack on victim at Queen Mother's childhood home

The Queen's cousin has been jailed for 10 months for a sexual assault which took place at the Queen Mother's home. Simon Bowes-Lyon, 34, has also been placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years after abusing his 26 year old victim at his ancestral home, Glamis Castle in Scotland, last February.

Sheriff Alistair Carmichael told Simon at Dundee Sheriff Court on Tuesday morning that the offence was so serious that he had to go to prison because it would "send the wrong message to others", denying him of his plea for a suspended sentence.The court heard that SImon's victim, who has not been named, still has nightmares about the attack more than a year after incident after undergoing cognitive behaviour therapy.
