The Pogues star Darryl Hunt has passed away at the age of 72. The band confirmed the sad news as they paid tribute to Darryl, who died on Monday August 8 in London, the statement confirmed.
The band posted on their official Instagram account to announce the news and pay tribute to their band member with a black and white photo of the bass player.
In their post, the band - who are best known for their Christmas hit Fairytale of New York- said: "We are saddened beyond words.
Our Darryl passed away yesterday afternoon in London. "Darryl Gatwick Hunt 04/05/1950 - 08/08/2022". The touching message ended with a poignant quote of the band's lyrics from their hit Love You 'Till the End as it read: "I know you want to hear me catch my breath I love you till the end'." The Pogues later shared a link to their song Love You 'Till The End, which was written by the bassist.Later, the group also shared a link to a song from Darryl's previous band Plummet Airlines on Twitter and wrote: "Darryl's pub rock band Plummet Airlines - This Is The World, a very early Stiff Records release".The musician and songwriter was born in Hampshire, England on May 4 1950.
