Work is about to start at a new development to build more than 400 homes in Stockport. Stopford Park, formerly known as Royal George Village, will create 442 apartments in the town centre on a site on Greek Street and Wellington Road.

Construction work will start this month on Bosden, the first of three residential buildings in the scheme. That work see 62 one and two-bedroom homes built in the new neighbourhood.

Alongside Bosden, work is also due to start at the Torkington building to add 122 apartments to the scheme, and a 16-storey site called Lyme will finish the project by adding a further 258 apartments.

The work should be finished by the end of 2027 with the first homes available to reserve from Spring this year. The three-acre site on Wellington Road and Greek Street is being delivered by Cityheart, the development team behind Stockport Interchange.
