A number of mosques across the country are holding open days to the wider public in efforts to tackle Islamophobia. 'Visit My Mosque' is part of a scheme set up by the Muslim Council of Britain and hopes to highlight the personal experiences and reflections from diverse Muslim communities.

The weekend comes after a difficult summer for the Muslim community which saw riots take place in multiple towns across the nation, some targeting members of the faith and refugees.

Billed as a family day out, the events will also feature henna, face painting, kids arts and crafts with traditional foods and refreshments handed out.
