Through his innovative cinematography, he creates original circulations between the characters within a house, and builds a very contemporary universe,” the competition jury said of the Lee Jeon-hong-directed “A Wild Roomer.” “We appreciated the originality and intensity with which the director was able to tell this very contemporary story. Here documentary and fiction meet in an organic and spirited way of making cinema. The generosity of the actors and the scenes create a closeness with this universal story that takes place in an Indian village,” the jury said of the Jaishankar Aryar-directed “Shivamma.”

The top prosecutor in Oregon's most populous county announced an immigration reform policy Thursday in an effort to protect non-citizens from being deported if they are charged with a crime. A 26-year-old woman plunged to her death from the rooftop bar of a hotel in Times Square Wednesday afternoon, according to police.  NYPD officers responded to a 911 call just before 3:30 p.m. regarding an "aided individual" at the Hyatt Centric Hotel on 135 West 45 Street.  The Hyatt Centric in Times Square.  (WNYW) Upon arrival, the officers found a woman unconscious and unresponsive on a 27th-floor balcony with injuries indicating she had fallen from a great height.  EMS responded and pronounced the woman deceased on scene.

A mother of one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims is speaking out following the release of Netflix’s "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story." Dahmer is played by Evan Peters in the series.  Shirley Hughes, the mother of Anthony Hughes, spoke to the Guardian briefly on Monday and said the way the show portrayed her son’s death and the aftermath "didn't happen." "I don't see how they can do that," Hughes, 85, shared with the outlet. "I don't see how they can use our names and put stuff out like that out there." The outlet noted that Hughes said it was difficult to talk about her son's murder and politely hung up the phone.
