Adapted from Paolo Cognetti’s bestseller, this two-and-a-half-hour film uses its leisurely runtime to explore the decade-spanning friendship of town-mouse Pietro (played as an adult by “Martin Eden” and “The Old Guard” star Luca Marinelli) and country-mouse Bruno (Alessandro Borghi, of “Suburra”), who meet as children on the alpine range where Pietro’s family vacations each summer.
