In the first months of the crisis, food banks struggled to meet demand - with many reporting shortages, amid panic buying in the supermarkets.
The Trussell Trust even issued an urgent warning that they were dangerously close to running out of essential supplies. Amid the panic, a tech start-up which had launched just a few months before Covid-19 hit, was stepping in to save food banks from potential chaos.
