Supermarket prices have been rising rapidly for weeks, leaving households struggling to make ends meet. As the cost of living continues to hit families hard, each week we've been comparing prices of essentials like milk and bread to help shoppers find the cheapest available.

It's been an ever-changing list and last week we reported how Morrisons had been ranked as most expensive of the lot, just three weeks after being declared the cheapest.

The shock result was the clearest sign yet of the price yoyo we're seeing among retailers. Shopping there, as well as at Tesco, Asda, Aldi, Lidl and Sainsbury's, we've been looking at the cost of the same eight items - a two-pint bottle of milk, a loaf of bread, coffee, teabags, butter, beans, chicken breasts and mince. And it's probably not who you'd expect either - but Aldi has increased the price of its 300g pack of two chicken breasts from £1.99 to £2.09.
