The Bachelor's Zach Shallcross: 'If You're Into Drama and BS, You Might Not Want to Watch This Season'

The Bachelor, and this season's face of the franchise—26-year-old tech exec Zach Shallcross—is feeling the pressure. “It just started hitting me the other day,” he says over Zoom from Los Angeles. "I'm trying to lay low as much as I can.” He won't be able to lay low much longer.

At 6'4, there's no mistaking the former Bachelorette contestant, whether in L.A. (where he grew up, and where his parents live) or his current home of Austin, Texas.

He rose to Bachelor Nation fame for calling out for “putting on a front” during their overnight date on her joint season (with Gabby Windey) of The Bachelorette; for being the nephew of actor Patrick Warburton; and for being very serious about finding love.

But taking his journey so seriously might just be the secret sauce to getting The Bachelor back on track from the drama-fueled butt-of-the-joke it's become to a show that puts finding love and front and center. “If you are a fan of people falling in love and romance, then I think you're going to be really happy,” Shallcross says of his season. “But if you're into the drama and the bullshit, then sorry, you might not want to watch."Now, The Bachelor's not going to become all unicorns and rainbows, but there's something to be said for moving away from the narrative of women sabotaging each other and the exhausting cat-fighting that's been a staple for years.
