Companies across the UK are already offering its employees the chance to work a four-day week. British camera company Canon is the latest company to trial a three day weekend with no loss of pay as part of a trial which is run by academics at Cambridge and Oxford University.
A variety of different organisations will see staff completing the usual amount of work - up to 35 hours a week - split over four days, instead of five, the Mirror reports. While the pilot programme is being overseen by New Zealand-based campaign group 4 Day Week Global, it is being run in conjunction with academics and thinktank Autonomy.
Currently, six companies have signed a deal, but the group is aiming for 30 to sign up across the UK. Canon Medical Research, which develops AI software, will involve 140 employees in the trial.
