Tesco shoppers warned over email scam that could steal their bank details

Tesco shoppers have been warned to stay vigilant over an email scam that could be intending to take money out of their bank accounts.Some of the supermarket's shoppers have been sent an email telling them they could be in with the chance of winning a Tesco Gift Card worth £500.

More than 170 people have reported the scam, as it has been asking shoppers to fill in their personal details or login to their Paypal accounts, The Mirror reports.The email reads: "You have been selected to join our loyalty programme for FREE!

It only takes you a minute to get access to this fantastic prize."The UK's national fraud and cyber reporting centre Action Fraud UK has now sent out advice for anyone who is concerned about the scam. "Your bank, or any other official organisation, won't ask you to share personal information over email or text," the organisation said. "If you need to check that it's a genuine message, contact them directly".Action Fraud urged Brits to report any emails that "feel suspicious" to report@phishing.gov.uk - even if you're not certain it's scam.
