Terminally ill man receives more than a thousand birthday cards after mum's plea

Reece Winnard, who will be 24 on April 15, is living with a rare, terminal, muscle-wasting disease. Called Duchenne muscular dystrophy, it means that over time, mutations in the genes in his muscles weaken their ability to function.

Last month the Manchester Evening News reported how his mum had issued a plea for the public to send him birthday cards, to make sure he has a special day - as 'you don't know which will be his last'.
