Taylor Swift

Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage. At age 14, Swift became the youngest artist signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house and, at 15, she signed her first record deal.

Her 2006 eponymous debut album was the longest-charting album of the 2000s in the US. Its third single, "Our Song", made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008.

Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", it became the US' best-selling album of 2009 and was certified diamond in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards, and Swift became the youngest Album of the Year winner.

TAYLOR Swift has donated £36,000 to a mother of five whose husband died of Covid. The superstar and her mum gave the cash to a GoFundMe appeal set up to support Vickie Quarles and her five children.

Her husband Theodis Ray Quarles, 48, of Memphis, Tennessee, US, died before Christmas, according to the fundraiser. The huge donation from Taylor, 31, and mum Andrea, 63, meant the GoFundMe page met its $50,000 target in one go.

It has so far raised more than $60,000 (£44,000). This is not the first time the big-hearted Grammy Award-winner has helped out strangers.

Last summer she gave £23,373 so Brit teenager Vitoria Mario could afford to go to university. And in December Taylor donated £9,500 each to two mothers experiencing difficulties due.
