Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the heir apparent to the British throne as the eldest son of Elizabeth II. He has been Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952, and he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.
He is also the longest-serving Prince of Wales, having held that title since 1958. Charles was born at Buckingham Palace as the first grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, which his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had attended as a child. Charles also spent a year at the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia.
Buckingham Palace has been the official home of the UK monarchs since 1837 when Queen Victoria took to the throne. It acts as the administrative headquarters for the Queen in a similar way to The White House in Washington D.C.The Palace has an incredible 775 rooms and measures 108 metres long across the front and 24 metres high which is the height of five double-decker London buses.
And Buckingham Palace spans 829,000 square feet compared to The White House which measures 55,000 and has a less-impressive 132 rooms.
Among the 775 rooms in the Palace are 19 State rooms, 52 Royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms.
