Gene Clines was an outfielder who was part of Major League Baseball’s first all-minority lineup and who won the 1971 World Series with the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Gene Clines was a speedy line-drive hitting outfielder who helped the Pittsburgh Pirates win the 1971 World Series championship. He played center field for the Pirates on September 1, 1971, when they fielded the first all-minority lineup in Major League Baseball history featuring players of Black and Latino descent.
