A top lung surgeon has been suspended after a tribunal found he had sexually harassed a junior female colleague. Dr Rajesh Shah, a consultant thoracic surgeon at Wythenshawe Hospital, 'squeezed' the woman's bottom and 'brushed his body against her breasts' in two separate incidents, a tribunal heard.
The 61-year-old also admitted calling female colleagues 'birds' when he couldn't remember their names and asking staff to complete parts of his mandatory training for him.
After being found guilty of serious misconduct following a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service hearing he was suspended for 12 months. READ MORE: This Morning TV doctor struck off for giving free botox in return for sex It was alleged that between 2005 and 2021 Dr Shah, who qualified at Bombay University in 1988, 'behaved inappropriately' towards two female colleagues and that some of that behaviour 'constituted sexual harassment'.
The tribunal found that the allegations made by one of the complainants were not proved. Following a complaint the Trust launched an investigation in 2021.
