The 33-year-old victim was running Stanley Road in Handforth when he accidentally knocked a black Mercedes which was parked on a kerb.

But the car followed the runner and then pulled alongside him on Manchester Road towards Wilmslow. The driver got out, assaulted the runner with a dinner plate and then ran away in the direction of Handforth, according to police.
