'No fear' could well be the motto etched above Stuart Kettlewell's office at Fir Park.Having been sacked from his first job despite delivering two pieces of silverware little over a year earlier meant he got an early introduction to the evils of football management.

His sudden exit from Ross County in December 2020 left him with plenty to ponder. But while the 38-year-old admits the mind can become the devil’s playground in such circumstances, Kettlewell insists the sinister side of the profession was never going to stop him going back for another shot.Having now returned to a Premiership hotseat at Motherwell just over two years on from his last game in charge of County, Kettlewell says he will never work in fear of the sack.

Doing so would only hinder his plans for the Steelmen as he looks to build on a two-game winning streak as interim boss. That ‘no fear’ message has also been drummed into the mindset of a group pf players who had sunk to level bottom of the Premiership on the back of a horror run that led to Stevie Hammell’s two weeks ago.

Kettlewell, who won the Challenge Cup and Championship with County in 2019, said: “When you have been sacked once before it’s a shock at the time.“Maybe one or two felt it was harsh on me at the time.
