Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Liverpool legend Steve McManaman has told old pal Steven Gerrard to park his Kop dream and consider joining "the next Manchester City" at Newcastle.

The Rangers boss is reportedly among the leading candidates to replace Steve Bruce if the new big money Toon owners decide to sack the incumbent manager.

He still has a job on his hands at Gers with the importance of a potential automatic Champions League spot turning up the heat on this Premiership season and his first title defence.

But former Real Madrid midfielder McManaman, a winner of both English cups at Anfield, reckons the carrot of St James' Park will be too good to turn down if Gerrard is asked.
