STEVE Coogan goes jogging as he portrays the early days of sex attacker Jimmy Savile. Comic Steve, 56, was filming in Manchester for docu-drama The Reckoning, due to air on BBC1 next year.

It traces evil Savile’s life from the 1950s when he had dark hair. Coogan admitted: “To play Jimmy Savile was not a decision I took lightly.

Neil McKay has written an intelligent script tackling sensitively a horrific story which, however harrowing, needs to be told.” The BBC has worked closely with Savile victims to ensure their stories are told with sensitivity and respect.
