Fuming St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson insisted Marcus Fraser should never have been shown a red card against Dundee United.

The Buddies defender was originally shown a yellow by referee Matthew MacDermid. after he tangled with Louis Moult for the home side’s second penalty but he was given his marching orders following an intervention by Don Robertson in the VAR room.

Kevin Holt missed the resulting penalty but Robinson was still raging over the decision to send off Fraser. United's goalie Jack Walton also escaped a sending off for chopping down Toyosi Olusanya during a controversial afternoon at Tannadice.

Irked Robinson said: “Sometimes things just don’t go your way and the game changed on the penalty decision. We had VAR reviews which didn’t go our way and they got one in the second half which did go their way. “I can’t make a call on it for the first one from the angle I’ve seen.
