Forward-thinking Melker Hallberg is relishing playing further up the park – and plans to build on his composed finish against Motherwell on Wednesday night.The Swede, who netted the second at Fir Park in a very deserved win, was again deployed just off the front two of Nicky Clark and Stevie May.

At times, it even appeared he was operating beyond them.Hallberg, like most players, revealed he is happy to play wherever put but finding the back of the net with regularity is a mission in the latter part of the season.“I played there when I signed a year ago,” he recalled. “Maybe not as a number 10 but further up the field.“I scored a few goals so I know what to do.

It’s just a case of getting back to it again. I want to keep scoring goals for the team.”On his goal midweek, he added: “I don’t know how I got the ball in there, to be honest.

It was a great pass from Mayzo but before that there was a tackle.“Everything moved so fast and I managed to slot it in the corner.”Hallberg’s evening was aided by the strong work of Dan Phillips and Cammy MacPherson behind him in the middle of the park.He said: “We’ve played this system many times this season, we know how to play it and it’s not a problem at all.“We had a few injuries at the start of the season.“Cammy MacPherson is coming back into the fold now and is doing really good, Daniel Phillips as well.“I play where the gaffer puts me and I try to do my best.
