There’s a brand new Tarzan movie on its way! The Hollywood Reporter revealed the news that Sony Pictures has acquired film rights for a brand new version of the tale, which was first put into print in 1912.

Sony is said to have struck a deal with the estate of original book author Edgar Rice Burroughs and plans at the moment are in the very early stages.

No plot for the movie has been mentioned at all. However, it would be a full reinvention of the popular character. According to Burroughs‘ stories, Tarzan was the son of English nobility who was raised by apes in the African jungle after his parents were marooned there and died.

He had no contact with Western culture until he was grown and “King of the Apes.” The first Tarzan movie adaptation came in 1918, and Olympian Jonny Weissmuller, Ron Ely, and Alexander Skarsgård have all played the character on the big screen.
