Sir Rod Stewart has sold his 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta at auction for over £300,000. The Maggie May singer joined the likes of Simon Cowell and actor Will Ferrell selling their luxury motors at the Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale Auction.

The Hoops daft singer, 77, managed to get his hands on one of the just 448 Barchetta 550s made, finished in Argento Nürburgring (Silver) with Nero (Black) leather. The luxurious car comes with a 5.5-litre V12 engine with 485bhp and 420lb/ft of torque - and Sir Rod's motor ended up going under the hammer for a whopping £309,000.

The 550 Barchetta was later replaced by the upgraded 575M Maranello in 2002.Last year, a Ferrari dealer serviced the car and included new engine mounts, a new left-side valve cover gasket, a timing cover gasket and an air-conditioning expansion valve, reports The Sun.

This isn't the only supercar Rod has sent to auction, as it was reported in January his former Lamborghini Countach would be hitting the market for a second time.
