But there's one line Pegg isn't willing to cross with the megastar - Cruise's connection with the religion Scientology. The duo, who play Ethan Hunt and Benji Dunn in the action films, are often seen joking on red carpets together and in interviews.
Only this week, Pegg shared a picture of them sharing a nap together on a plane, with fans declaring them "Tom Snooze and Shaun Of The Bed".
Appearing on BBC's Desert Island Discs this weekend, Pegg opened up about his relationship with Cruise, saying they have a "simple friendship" amid the chaos of being in the public eye.
