Simon Cowell
Simon Phillip Cowell (born 7 October 1959) is an English television personality, businessman and record executive. He has judged on the British television talent competition series Pop Idol (2001–2003), The X Factor (2004–2010, 2014–present) and Britain's Got Talent (2007–present), and the American television talent competition series American Idol (2002–2010), The X Factor (2011–2013), and America's Got Talent (2016–present). Cowell is the principal, founder and chief executive of the British entertainment company Syco.

Kelly Brianne Clarkson (born April 24, 1982) is an American singer-songwriter, actress, author and television personality. She rose to fame in 2002, after winning the first season of American Idol, which earned her a record deal with RCA Records. Clarkson's debut single, "A Moment Like This", topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and became the country's best-selling single of 2002. It was followed by the release of her debut studio album, Thankful (2003), which debuted atop the US Billboard 200. Trying to reinvent her image, Clarkson parted ways with Idol management and shifted to pop rock music for her second album, Breakaway (2004). After numerous top 40 radio number-one singles, such as "Since U Been Gone" and "Because of You", the album sold over 12 million copies worldwide and earned Clarkson two Grammy Awards.

Simon Cowell has said he “wouldn’t be here today” if not for the success of Kelly Clarkson, as the singer was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.The star got her big break when she won first ever season of American Idol, which launched her into superstardom all the way back in 2002.The music mogul, 62, said Kelly, 40, was “one of the most loyal, talented” people he had helped throughout his career, as he spoke at the ceremony in Los Angeles on Monday.

He was joined by fellow his judges from the original series, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, who also praised Kelly before her star was unveiled.

Reminiscing on to the days to when he first met Kelly, Simon told her: "I remember not just your voice but your personality. “I didn’t realise at that point how good you were, I just liked you, and I’m so thankful," he continued. “I can honestly say thanks to you I’m here today, genuinely, I swear to God. "Because you validated what we did – if we didn’t find a star there’s no point in doing these shows.

And I could never predict what was going to happen." Simon also praised Kelly for being a genuine soul, saying that the star people know and love is "the same Kelly you would see behind the camera". "She is one of the nicest, most loyal, talented people I have had the great, great fortune to help," Simon said.
