He is currently the co-presenter of This Morning (2002–present) and Dancing on Ice (2006–2014, 2018–present) alongside Holly Willoughby. His other work for ITV includes All Star Mr & Mrs (2008–2016), The Cube (2009–2015), and 5 Gold Rings (2017–present). Schofield gained national attention working for the BBC, first as a continuity presenter for Children's BBC on weekdays from 1985 to 1987, then as a presenter on the children's Saturday morning magazine show Going Live! between September 1987 and April 1993.

Shirley Ballas has confirmed that Carrie Simmons will definitely not be doing Strictly Come Dancing this year.The BBC show's head judge said that it was "a family show, not a political agenda show" as she ruled the Prime Minister's partner out of the running.

Carrie had been rumoured for Strictly after the recent furore around her redesign of the flat at 11 Downing Street and how Boris Johnson paid for it.

But when Shirley appeared on This Morning host Phillip Schofield asked her: "Two words - Carrie Simmons?" Shirley jumped up off the sofa to perform a few moves as she said: "With a boom boom boom and a shimmy - no." Holly Willoughby asked her if that was definite and she answered: "99.999 per cent.
