A senior MI5 officer has said the service is 'so sorry' the Manchester Arena attack wasn't stopped. Giving evidence from a concealed wooden box at the public inquiry into the atrocity on Monday, 'Witness J' offered his condolences to the bereaved families and all those injured in the terror bombing.

But the witness, who has been employed by MI5 for nearly 30 years, said he couldn't answer certain questions put to him by counsel representing a number of families in 'open session'.
