Nicola Sturgeon announced earlier this week that she was calling in the Army to help deal with the ambulance crisis as pressure mounts on the service.

Opposition politicians are now urging the government to open field hospitals to help ease some pressure on the NHS.Soldiers are set to drive ambulances after the situation was laid bare over the last number of weeks with reports of patients having to wait hours for paramedics to arrive.Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar said the government should give "serious consideration" to asking the Army to set up the temporary hospitals.
