Rangers star Scott Arfield has retired from international football with Canada. The Ibrox midfielder, 33, has decided to call time on representing the North American country, which he qualified for through his father, after 19 caps.
It means he will be available for Giovanni van Bronckhorst despite the CONCACAF international window at the end of this month.
Canada are set to play crucial World Cup 2022 qualifiers against Honduras, the USA and El Salvador between January 28 and February 3.
But Arfield won't be involved in those as he wrote in an Instagram post: "It’s with a heavy heart that the time has come to officially announce my retirement from the Canadian men’s national team."I have loved every minute representing Canada.
