A Scots mum-of-four tragically died of Covid-19 after repeatedly postponing the second dose of the Covid vaccine due to recurring illness.

Kellyanne Syme, 42, passed away on January 4 in the intensive care at Forth Valley Royal Hospital after 'fighting hard until the end'.

The Falkirk mum had a lung condition called emphysema which causes shortness of breath, coughing and tightness of the chest.

People with the condition have damaged air sacs and over time symptoms worsen as the inner walls of the air sacs become weaker and rupture.Kellyanne had her first covid vaccine at the start of the rollout last year but was unable to receive her second vaccination due to recurring illness throughout 2021.In the months after her first vaccine she repeatedly developed bacterial chest infections from catching the cold and flu, exacerbated by her emphysema.NHS Inform guidance states that although you may still attend for a vaccine appointment when suffering from minor illness, if you feel very unwell or have a fever your vaccine may be postponed until you have fully recovered.Sadly, Kellyanne was never well enough to get the jab.Kellyanne had hoped she would finally be able to get her second jag in December after spell of feeling better, but when she again fell ill with the flu again, she had to reschedule the appointment until January.Tragically she caught covid on December 20 and never recovered. Her devastated family have paid tribute to their 'genuine angel' mum who had the 'kindest soul'.Daughter Taylor, 20, told the Record: "My mum tested positive for Covid on December 20th and she was doing okay but she took a bad turn on Christmas Eve and I had to phone an ambulance."We thought she was going to be okay but she was admitted
