mum is facing an agonising wait for a transplant after a traumatic premature birth of her 1lb baby uncovered hidden kidney disease.Doctors discovered 23-year-old Lauren Ballantine had been living with underlying kidney disease after she underwent an emergency Cesarean section when she was just 25-weeks pregnant.The young mum, from Newmilns, had been suffering from potentially fatal pre-eclampsia and was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital at 24 weeks pregnant.Doctors we able to stabilise the East Ayrshire mum for a week before her condition worsened, putting both mum and baby at risk when they had to operate of either were going to survive.Rory was born on June 15,  weighing just 584 grams  - 1lb 2oz.Doctors warned Lauren and partner, RAF.
