A brave Scots mum says she feels completely “helpless” after three generations of her family have been ‘decimated’ by deadly brain tumours.

Claire Cordiner tragically lost her mum Margaret O’Kane, 66, in October 2008 after she was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM).Just over a year later, the grieving mum-of-two then lost her sister Angie Jones, 36, who passed away after her own battle with the killer disease.

The 54-year-old is now preparing to say goodbye to her late sister’s only child Max, 18, who is receiving end-of-life care after being diagnosed with the same condition in June last year.Claire, who grew up in Wishaw but now lives in Edinburgh, said: “Brain tumours have absolutely devastated our family.

They are so unpredictable and can affect anyone at any age. I felt totally helpless not being able to do anything for Mum and Angie, and I feel helpless now for my nephew Max.“There is so little funding or brain tumours which is disgraceful.
