A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital after an alleged stabbing outside a pub in a Midlothian mining village. Emergency services were called to the Main Street area of Newtongrange on Friday June 2 following reports of a disturbance.

Police Scotland has confirmed that a 24-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is not known at this time, Edinburgh Live reports.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident, which is reported to have unfolded outside the Dean Tavern pub.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.35pm on Friday, 2 June, 2023, police were called to a report of a disturbance in the Main Street area of Newtongrange."Emergency services attended and a 24-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment."A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing."
