This is the hair-raising moment a Scots kayaker was winched to safety from fast-flowing rapids after suffering a 'broken leg'.

Dramatic video footage shows coastguard and lifeboat crews springing into action at the River Moriston in Invermoriston near Inverness on Wednesday October 12.

The alarm was raised at around 6pm after reports came in of a man believed to have broken his leg. Battling strong winds, a search and rescue (SAR) paramedic is hoisted down to the scene in the clip.The casualty, surrounded by other kayakers, lay on a rocky area while white water rapids careered past the group.Avoiding huge trees and a number of large rocks in the river, the paramedic successfully reached the man.Within seconds, he was safely attached to
