Scots cops seize £11k in cash and arrest five men in city-wide drug bust

Police in Aberdeen have seized more than £11,000 in cash after staging nine anti-drug raids across the city on Tuesday. Co-ordinated efforts by specialist officers saw properties searched in the Torry area of the Granite City on January 17.

Cops seized the five-figure sum and visited multiple addresses in the areas around the raids to offer support and advice to those affected by drug-related activities.Some of those offered support were living at the addresses where the raids took place.

Five men aged 23, 29, 34, 35 and 38 were arrested and charged in connection with the mass operation and are expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Wednesday January 18.Detective Inspector Andrew Machray, of the North East Division of Police Scotland, said: “The operation is part of our ongoing commitment to keep drugs off the streets and to provide support to anyone who needs it."We work closely with partners, such as housing providers and social work, to ensure anyone affected by drugs is fully supported in taking proactive and positive steps going forward.“Safeguarding our communities remains a priority and we hope our presence in the area provides reassurance that we take drugs crime seriously."Anyone who is concerned about drugs in their community is asked to contact Police on 101 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.” Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond - sign up to our daily newsletter here.
