Scotland is in for more weather chaos this weekend, as warnings are in place across the country for snow, ice - and wildfires.The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for snow and ice on Saturday and Sunday, after Storm Larissa blasted through the UK, resulting in treacherous conditions.

Temperatures plummeted to -15C in the Highlands on Friday after the same region saw the coldest night of the year so far at -16c in Altnaharra.Meanwhile, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is urging the public to take care in the countryside as an "extreme" wildfire warning is in place for the southwest on Saturday, March 11, while a "very high" alert is in place for central-eastern Scotland on the same day.A yellow weather warning for snow and ice is in place for Saturday, March 11 along the Central Belt, Lothian & Borders and Strathclyde, which will begin at 6pm and last until 6 am tomorrow.

Forecasters are warning of up to five cm of snowfall in lower regions, while levels are predicted to hit 10cm at higher levels.More disruptions are likely for commuters, as conditions may result in delayed or cancelled air, rail and boat travel.

Both motorists and pedestrians are being asked to take caution over icy surfaces, which can cause stranded vehicles and injuries from slips and falls.Scots are being asked to act responsibly when outdoors this weekend by safely disposing of cigarette butts and avoiding anything that involves a naked flame.
