Scotland braced for 12 hours of rain which could flood homes as warning issued

Heavy rain could flood homes and businesses across parts of Scotland on Saturday night. Forecasters have issued a warning for large parts of the country, with the west set to be worst hit.

The Met Office yellow 'be aware' alert comes into force at 9pm on Saturday and lasts until 9am on Sunday.As much as 20 to 40mm of rain is expected to fall, with perhaps as much as 70 to 90mm on higher ground.The Met Office website says that flooding of a few homes and businesses is 'likely', with some bus and train services 'probably affected' and spray and flooding on roads making journey times longer.It comes just days after snow fell in parts of the country.
