Zack Sharf Digital News Director Samuel L. Jackson participated in a career retrospective interview for GQ magazine and admitted that he was shocked by the speed in which Marvel raced through his initial 9 picture deal.

Jackson agreed to Marvel’s initial offer to play Nick Fury in nine movies, starting with a cameo appearance at the end of 2008’s “Iron Man.” He has since starred in a dozen Marvel movies, including multiple “Avengers” movies and standalone tentpoles like “Iron Man 2” and “The Marvels.” “I knew I had a 9 picture deal,” Jackson said. “[Marvel Studios president] Kevin [Feige] said that: ‘We’re going to offer you a 9 picture deal.’ How long do you have to stay alive to make 9 movies?
