Samuel Hamilton murder suspect in court after ‘wee hero’ dad found dying on doorstep

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a ‘hero’ Scots dad who was found dying on his own doorstep.Samuel Hamilton was tragically pronounced dead at the scene in Thorndean Avenue, Bellshill, at around 11.30pm on Wednesday last week.Police earlier revealed how the 56-year-old had been coming home from a relative’s house when he was discovered badly injured by his own mother.His death was initially treated as ‘unexplained’ however murder cops were drafted in following the results of a post mortem.Police arrested and charged a man in connection with the death over the weekend.And now Richard Wotherspoon, from Bellshill, has appeared in private at Hamilton Sheriff Court where he faces one charge of murder.The 32-year-old made no plea and was remanded in custody with the case fully submitted for further examination by prosecutors on Monday.He is expected to reappear in court within the next eight days.Tributes were paid to Celtic fan Sammy on social media as his death sparked an outpouring of grief from friends and family.Sharing a picture of her and her father, daughter Nicole Hamilton wrote: “My wee dad.

My wee hero. Love you forever.”Her sibling Sammy Jo also changed her profile picture and simply wrote “my wee dad” with a broken heart emoji.A friend wrote: “Thoughts are with Sammy Jo, Nicole and the rest of the Hamiltons.
