Posting a photo of her first class flight home, Sam, 32, wrote, and then deleted a caption, which read: "The truth is going on holiday with small children is tough, especially with a crawling, teething baby..." Sam then thanked the "accommodating and kind" Etihad Airways staff who she said had helped her when she felt "self-conscious" about flying with a baby and her two other young children, Paul Jr.
and Rosie.The comment section quickly filled with people branding Sam as "tone deaf" and "out of touch." Opening up about the backlash on The Sam & Billie Show, the podcast she co-hosts with her older sister Billie Shepherd, Sam hit back at her critics, adding that she feels as though she "can't win".
Clarifying that the flights were gifted to her, Sam argued that it was part of her job to post about it, and that she wouldn't usually fly first class.
She began: "It's like, you kidding me? Like yes, I've flown business a few times, but not every time I fly is business. Like come on it's like once like once in a blue moon because that was part of the job. "You just can't win, I had to post the flight because it was part of the job that we were there to do with the Tourism Board. "And then I didn't want to speak about it being business because I did think, I'm just not like that to boast about business class seats.
