Now Sainsbury's has found itself hitting the headlines again, after a shopper discovered how much Mr Kipling cakes now cost.

The price for a pack of 8 cakes? £3.75. Posting on the Scrimping on a Budget Facebook page, a shopper called Carol Bishop wrote: "I'm sure some supermarkets are over pricing branded goods, so customers choose own brands instead.

These used to be £1.50." The comment section was quickly flooded with comments, with many commenting on the 'appalling' price of the tea time treat.
