RTÉ presenters avoid prosecution for breaking level five restrictions at staff party

The RTÉ presenters who attended a staff party during level five restrictions have been cleared of any wrongdoing, along with the national broadcaster.

Miriam O’Callaghan, Brian Dobson, Blathnaid Ní Chofaigh, and David McCullough were among those who attended the party in November to say farewell to a long-time colleague who was moving on.

The subsequent photos which showed the presenters briefly ignoring social distancing guidelines and posing together sparked huge outrage from the public.

However, as The Mirror reports, at the time of the party, it wasn’t illegal to attend non-essential events but it was to host one.
