Ross McCrorie has lost his appeal against the red card he was shown against St Mirren earlier this week. The Aberdeen defender will now serve a two-match ban and will miss games against Motherwell on Saturday and Celtic at Parkhead later this month.
McCrorie received a straight red from whistler Grant Irvine in the opening minutes into the tie at Pittodrie. He was racing towards the St Mirren box and Charles Dunne attempted to block his run, the defender jumped past him and his right arm flew into the Englishman's face.Irvine awarded a free-kick however just moments later he was ordered to review the footage of the incident again on the VAR screen.
After careful consideration he returned to the pitch to flashed McCrorie a red card. Aberdeen players surrounded the official after he was ordered off with interim boss Barry Robson believing the Dons had won a free-kick after thinking Dunne had fouled McCrorie.
The home side eventually went down by three goals to one thanks to strikes from Curtis Main and Declan Gallagher.A statement from Aberdeen read: "The Club is this evening disappointed to learn it has lost its appeal against Ross McCrorie’s red card which he received on Wednesday night against St Mirren.
