Robert Downey Jr. might have found his next big role. The 57-year-old Marvel Cinematic Universe star has reportedly set his sights on starring in a remake of Alfred Hitchcock‘s classic movie Vertigo at Paramount Pictures.

According to a new report, his starring role hasn’t been confirmed just yet. However, he and his wife are involved in a different element of the movie. Read more about Robert Downey Jr.’s involvement in the reported Vertigo remake… Variety reports that Robert and his wife Susan Downey are both tapped to produce the movie.

They have a joint production company called Team Downey. Meanwhile, Steven Knight has been tapped to work on the script.

The original movie was released in 1958. If he takes the role, this will be one of Robert‘s first big projects since he wrapped up with the MCU back in 2019.

Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic The headline of this column is doubtlessly unfair. I’m judging a movie before I’ve seen it, before it has even been made. Given the vast volume of junky indifferent product that now slides through the megaplex, and the streaming ocean, on a weekly basis, why not settle in for an ambitious remake of “Vertigo,” Alfred Hitchcock’s romantically kinky and voluptuous dream thriller of 1958? At least it’s not “Texas Chainsaw XVIII” or another “Minions” movie. At least it will be interesting (right?). Robert Downey Jr., who is in talks to produce and possibly star in a remake of “Vertigo” at Paramount (home of the original film), is a great actor. But once he became a box-office superstar, 15 years ago, with “Iron Man,” he got sucked into the escapist vortex of Marvel and “Sherlock Holmes” and duds like “Dolittle.” Downey, who is about to turn 58, needs to rediscover himself as an actor. Couldn’t he accomplish that by taking on the role of the obsessive detective that James Stewart, who was 49 when he starred in “Vertigo” (but looked 10 years older than Downey), fashioned into one of his own greatest performances?

Jelly Roll opens recording studio in juvenile detention center where he was incarcerated
Jelly Roll is very big on giving back.According to Entertainment Tonight, the country music star helped launch a music studio inside of Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was once incarcerated.The outlet reported that a portion of the proceeds from Jelly Roll’s Bridgestone Arena headlining show in December and the Redemption Songs event earlier this year helped fund the program.ET included a quote from the press release of the program that read, “This collaboration, featuring music luminaries Jeffrey Steele and ERNEST, alongside 35 pro/hit songwriters who helped kick off the program launch, embodies the belief in music’s role in personal growth and redemption, showcasing the journey from juvenile detention to success.”In December 2022, the musician spoke to People magazine about creating a music studio in the detention center and how he wants “to bring hope” to troubled youths.“It’s important, man. I think it’s important that we give back, especially [to] our kids,” he told the outlet at the time.
